Sunday Mail Presents Westpac City-Bay is a not-for-profit organisation whose prime objective is to raise funds to support Athletics in South Australia. Each year in September, tens of thousands participate in what is one of the largest marathon events in South Australia.
A marketing tool and resource hub to encourage signups and provide race information
Since there is such a large array of pre and post race day information that needs to be communicated, we needed to carefully plan the strategic layout and user flow of the site to aid a natural and clear customer journey.
Pink Panda was commissioned to re-design and simplify the public-facing site for "Sunday Mail Presents Westpac City-Bay" to encourage registrations as well as provide useful information for participants.
The project required a high degree of custom development - particularly to store, filter and sort past race results where updating participant race times in the back end automatically adjusted the places for all other participants for that year. We also implemented a number of interactive course maps where we dynamically plotted key points of interest as well as dynamic routes according to the user's race and distance selection.
